1. Coco Beach / Playa Del Coco

Coco Beach / Playa Del Coco is a very popular beach in Guanacaste.  This beach is shaped like a horseshoe and is over 3 kilometers long, with white and grey sand.  It is a place for people who relax, enjoy local crafts, great food, along with sunbathing and swimming.

2. Tamarindo 

Tamarindo is a one of the busiest towns in Guanacaste and has great restaurants, bars and shops.  For those people who want a great beach and social life, this is the place to visit.  This white sand beach, with its pristine water, is a favourite with surfers and is famous for its stunning sunsets and some of the best food in Costa Rica.

3. Potrero

The tiny seaside town of Potrero is a little piece of paradise which not everyone has discovered yet.  It has long stretches of sandy beach and crystal clear water.  The gentle waves are perfect for those who enjoy a gentle swim in the sea.  Snorkelling and diving are also very rewarding in this unspoilt piece of Guanacaste.

4. Ocotal

Ocotal is a quiet little town and its grey sand beach nestles in a rocky cove.  It’s not as big as most of the other beaches in Guanacaste but that’s part of its charm.  The sea is a deep azure, with calm warm water making it a favourite with swimmers.

5. Playa Grande

Playa Grande is in a national park as it’s a nesting place for leatherback turtles.  It has long stretches of beautiful tan coloured sand and its waves and deep blue sea, attract surfers from around the globe.
