Frequently asked questions
How many trips to Costa Rica will I need for All on X?
Most patients complete the full process in two visits. The first visit covers the CT scan, extractions (if needed), implant placement, and delivery of your temporary prosthesis. The second visit, typically three to six months later, is for fitting and delivery of your final permanent prosthesis.
How long do All on X implants last?
With proper care, the titanium implants are designed to last a lifetime. The prosthetic arch typically lasts 10 to 15 years before needing replacement, depending on material and use. Zirconia prosthetics generally offer greater long-term durability than acrylic alternatives.
Can I eat normally with All on X?
Yes. Once your final prosthesis is placed, you can eat most foods comfortably. During the healing phase with your temporary prosthesis, we recommend a soft diet to protect the implants while osseointegration takes place.
Is the procedure painful?
The surgery is performed under local anesthesia, so you will not feel pain during the procedure. For patients who prefer not to be awake, we also offer IV sedation administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist as an add-on. Post-surgical discomfort is normal for the first few days and is managed with prescribed medication. Most patients return to normal activity within a week.
What is the difference between All on X and traditional dentures?
Traditional dentures are removable and rest on the gums, which can cause slipping, difficulty chewing, and bone resorption over time. All on X is permanently anchored to implants, restoring full biting force and preventing bone loss. You brush and care for it like natural teeth.
How much can I save compared to getting All on X in the United States?
Patients typically save between 60% and 70% on All on X procedures at LS Dental compared to equivalent treatment in the United States, using the same implant systems and prosthetic materials. A procedure that costs $25,000 or more in the US can be completed at a fraction of that cost in Costa Rica.
